Emmanuel Massat

Teacher, Perpignan Conservatory

Emmanuel began the double bass at the Perpignan Conservatory with his father, Gérard Massat. He continued his studies at the Versailles Conservatory in Jacques Cazauran's class, where he was awarded a first prize with distinction. He then worked with Franco Petracchi at the Higher Music School of Geneva. He has a national teaching diploma.

Former associate principal of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Dos Beiras, Aveiro, Portugal and principal double bass of the Orchestra of Emporda, Spain, he has also taught at the conservatories of Coimbra (Portugal) and Beziers (France). He currently teaches at the Regional Music School in Perpignan and the Departmental Music School in Narbonne, and is assistant principal bass for the Orchestre de Perpignan-Méditérannée.
