"Rencontres de la Contrebasse en Roussillon" (RCR) is a not-for-profit organisation, created by Bernard Salles.

Gérard Massat is the Honorory President.

Gérard Massat, former teacher at the Perpignan Conservatory, was the brain-child behind the very first summer schools in Prades (1983-1985). Following in his footsteps, Bernard Salles, accompanied by his friend, the violin maker Christian Nogaro, created the festival and summer school in Capbreton in 1990. For 24 years, this event attracted the biggest names in the double bass world and became a focal point for double bassists around the world. Having returned to the Roussillon area where he grew up and first learned the double bass, Bernard Salles has his heart set on re-creating these prestigious musical events.
